We are proud to return to independent practice through new partnerships that will strengthen our ability to bring you the highest quality care you deserve. We want to assure you any changes are for good and have answered a comprehensive list of patient questions regarding our new partnerships.

Who is Millennium Physician Group?
Founded in 2008, our new partner Millennium Physician Group is a leading independent physician group with more than 800 healthcare providers across the Southeast United States. Millennium physicians lead the nation in caring for patients of all ages, particularly those of Medicare age. DIMA was drawn to Millennium’s philosophy of physician leadership, emphasis on the patient-physician relationship, and focus on patient-centered care.

Who is EmergeOrtho?
EmergeOrtho, P.A., is an established community healthcare provider with 45 outpatient offices in 21 counties across North Carolina. Recognized for offering world-class, comprehensive and compassionate care, the group is the largest physician-owned orthopedic practice in the state, also known for its patient-first philosophy.

What is EmergeOrtho’s relationship to DIMA?
DIMA is also partnering with EmergeOrtho, P.A., on our billing systems. DIMA and EmergeOrtho, P.A., are both established, trusted practices in the Durham area and across the state.

What about Novant?
DIMA was founded in 1955 on the idea that physician independence is key to aligning physicians with patient interests. In this next chapter of DIMA’s long history, our physicians seek to take patient care to the leading edge of medicine.

Why did I get a bill from an orthopedic group?
DIMA is partnering with EmergeOrtho, P.A., on our billing systems, so you will start seeing “EmergeOrtho, P.A.” on your billing statements and explanation of benefits.

Billing and insurance FAQs


Will my insurance be affected?
No. We still accept your insurance, and there are no changes planned to our insurance participation.

Who do I call with billing questions?
For services rendered before November 7, 2022, please call Novant Health customer service at 1.844.NOVANT (844.266.8268).
For services rendered on or after November 7, 2022, please call the EmergeOrtho, P.A,. billing department directly at 800.359.1540.

As always, we want to ensure you have a complete understanding of any charges you incur from our practice.

To whom do I make out my check?
EmergeOrtho, P.A. All payments for services rendered by Millennium Physician Group - Durham Internal Medicine Associates healthcare providers are to be made toour billing partner EmergeOrtho, P.A.

Whom do I call for care questions?
Your doctor’s office. As a valued DIMA patient, you will continue to receive the highest quality care from the physicians you have come to know and trust over the years.

Is the patient portal the same?
No. We are transitioning to a new patient portal to offer you greater convenience and access to your care team when and where you need us most.
